Personal injury news – More than £2.2m awarded to injured pupils and teachers
Accident claims were made against Staffordshire’s three main councils, including Stoke-on-Trent City Council which paid out a total of £744,367.
The most sizeable payout was for £260,059 and was received by a woman who suffered personal injuries after slipping on a carpet tile.
Staffordshire County Council paid out a total of £890,880 to 52 pupils and 36 members of staff while Cheshire East Council paid out £590,645.
Personal injury compensation claims made include a pupil who was injured in a bus accident who received £23,649, and a teaching assistant who was awarded £19,996 after suffering back injuries due to a faulty chair. Another £14,261 was paid to a young girl who was blindfolded and pushed down a hill by her peers during a lesson.
