Bicycle accident compensation news – Rider receives £11,000 for injury

16th March 2012

The man had been cycling back to his home in Chelmsford, Essex, from the railway station, when a car driver who was overtaking him turned left to avoid temporary traffic lights.

As the motorist’s car turned, the vehicle clipped the bike’s front wheel which caused the rider to be thrown onto the road. The cyclist suffered a dislocated and fractured shoulder. He states that the injuries caused him the most pain he has ever known.

The driver failed to stop at the scene. A bystander ran after the vehicle to speak to the driver and take down their registration number, but the motorist drove off despite telling the witness that they would turn back and return to the incident.

After making a car accident claim for compensation, the rider has now received a £11,000 settlement for his pain, suffering, and loss of earnings relating to the injuries
