Will writing news – Solicitors raise £2 million for charitable causes
The figure outstrips previous sums and came about through the combined efforts of nearly 1,450 wills and probate solicitors across the country, including many in West Sussex cities such as Chichester.
However, it was not all down to the hard work of solicitor firms – more than 23,000 people signed up for the scheme, with the will-writing fee going to charity.
Indeed, the scheme can be seen as a success on many levels because as well as raising money for charity, it means that many people now have a legally enforceable will for the first time in their lives.
Shirley Marsland, Will Aid Campaign Manager, commented, “The Will Aid charities are very grateful for the support and hard work of every solicitor who took part in the campaign to achieve such an impressive result. The money raised will be shared by the charities and immediately put to work helping them improve the lives of many people in the UK and overseas.”News
