Gritting lorry involved in Manchester road traffic accident

07th December 2012

The man had been travelling along Broad Lane in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, when he collided into a house’s garden wall and his vehicle overturned.

He was trapped inside the gritting lorry until fire fighters freed him by cutting the roof from the cab.

Paramedics performed first aid on the man – who suffered an arm injury – before taking him to hospital as a precautionary measure.

Following initial reports on the incident, Greater Manchester Police stated that the driver had failed a breathalyzer test at the scene.

Because no other vehicles were involved in the road traffic accident – and since the man was above the legal blood-alcohol limit making him largely liable for the crash – he will not be eligible to make a claim for his arm injury.
