Clutha Vaults pub helicopter accident
The police helicopter (Eurocopter EC135 T2) collided with the premises at about 10:25pm on Friday last week, and since then nine individuals have been confirmed dead.
Furthermore, twelve of the people who sustained injuries in the accident remain in hospital – with three of these in intensive care – and many more have yet to be recovered from the building.
Witnesses to the incident stated that the helicopter “dropped like a stone” onto the roof of the pub after suddenly losing power. The Air Accident Investigation Branch will be looking into what exactly caused this malfunction.
Up to 120 individuals are thought to have been in the one-storey building at the time of the accident, where live music was being performed by a local band.
Rescuers have said they cannot rule out the possibility of finding more people inside the premises who have sadly sustained fatal injuries.News
