Faked Will sees man appear in court

26th November 2013

The 41-year-old is accused of breaching probate law by falsely claiming that a Will he had signed had been made by his father. The father had died intestate.

The defendant admitted to the Teesside Crown Court that his representation to the probate service had been misleading and untrue.

A related charge of conspiring to pervert the course of justice was denied.

Another man, a 27-year-old from Mickleton, appeared alongside the defendant in court, but no charges were brought against him.

Both men were bailed by the court. The solicitor for the prosecution said that a decision was still to be made as to whether it was in the public interest to continue the case against the younger man.

The former police officer will be sentenced for the probate law violation on December 13.
