Estate planning news – Make a Will fortnight boosts charity fund by £4,000
Our offices in Chichester and Bognor Regis received more than 60 instructions from people wishing to write or update a will in return for donations to the local charity – with donations totalling £4,000.
Partner and head of George Ide’s Private Client department Ursula Watt said, “We have been delighted with the response from clients embracing the scheme – making new wills or updating existing wills and at the same time raising much needed funds for our local hospice, St Wilfrid’s”
Make a Will campaigns are always popular and this is a great way to raise awareness of the importance of making a will.
Making a will is often overlooked and something that many people put off – postponing the inevitable – either because they are too busy to make a will or they don’t understand the implications of dying without one (intestate).
Thousands of people are in this position and it can leave confusion, further upset or distress and often financial difficulties for those left behind. There is a misconception that a surviving spouse will automatically inherit everything, but this is not always the case.
George Ide LLP’s experienced wills solicitors handle all aspects of will making, including appointing executors, acting as executors, updating existing wills and creating new wills, as well as dealing with inheritance tax issues and estate administration.News
