Injury claim news – Mother makes claim for £5 million for son’s brain injury

25th January 2012

The lady claims that his condition was caused by a 17-minute delay while he was being born by emergency caesarean section and an incorrect technique when it came to administering anaesthetic.

According to her legal documents, the brain damage suffered by the boy due to being starved of oxygen has led to him being unable to talk, having problems with his sight, and needing constant care.

In order to fund her son’s care needs the mother has made a clinical negligence claim for £5 million against the Health Board, stating that hospital staff did not communicate the urgency of the situation to one another and this led to her son’s delayed birth and oxygen starvation.

The authority has not accepted liability for the birth injury.
