Bicycle crash news – Boy suffered head injury in bike accident in Cardiff

28th June 2012

The boy had been riding his bike on Cowbridge Road West in Ely, Cardiff after school hours on Monday the 18th when the incident occurred.

One of the boy’s neighbours called an ambulance and kept him comfortable by covering him with a blanket while she waited with him. He was eventually taken to the University Hospital of Wales.

Another neighbour commented, “I was just driving up and I saw a little boy lying on the floor and then my little boy noticed he was one of his friends.

“On his head he was bleeding and had a lot of scratches. I think he was in shock.

“He was conscious before they took him into the ambulance.”

A spokesperson for the South Wales Police stated that the boy’s bike had been struck by a gold-coloured Mercedes C270 car. Police are appealing for any witnesses to the accident to come forward with information.

If the driver of the vehicle involved is found to be liable for the boy’s head injury they may have a bicycle accident claim made against them.

There have been no further reports on the boy’s condition.
