Property conveyancing news – Home sales not affected by Olympics
Figures from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors revealed that in the three months to the end of August, an average of 7.5 per cent of homes on the market were sold and this is consistent with other months of the year.
However, during the London 2012 games, nine per cent of chartered surveyors reported falls in demand for their services, while in July four per cent made such reports.
An RICS spokesperson, said, “Little changed in the housing market last month. Despite the Olympics taking centre stage throughout much of August, it didn’t have any real impact on the proportion of sales going through.
Chartered surveyors across the country are now hoping that the autumn months will bring an upturn in successful property sales, with 12 per cent expecting house sales to increase rather than reduce in the three months to November.
