London home could become most expensive ever sold in the UK
House sales records show that if the property at 18 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1 sells for anywhere near its reported list price of £250 million, it will be the most valuable home in the UK, ever.
The end-of-terrace Regency mansion offers 50,000 sq ft of living space for the prospective buyer and backs onto the Mall.
Details of the property’s internal accommodation are vague as the brochure has been released very secretively and it is believed that the pictures used are from the 1890s, but it is widely accepted that facilities include an impressive double staircase and significantly-sized ballroom.
The property is said to be owned by a member of the Saudi royal family and is currently registered in the British Virgin Islands.
However, it is yet to be seen whether the six-storey town house will fetch the asking price as some recent mega-house sales have had to drastically reduce their multi-million pound price tags to attract buyers.
And if you-re wondering what the Government would receive if the house went at the top-end, well, HM Revenues and Customs would receive a cool £17.5 million in stamp duty to swell its coffers.
