Inspirational home of The Waltons goes under the hammer, but will remain intact
Now, house sales lawyers in the US have handled the residential conveyancing of the property which helped to inspire the show.
Waltons creator Earl Hamner Jr lived in the two-storey family home in Schuyler, Virginia while he grew up. Members of the family had lived in the property for more than a century. However, Hamner’s younger brother James, who was the original inspiration for the character Jim-Bob, had become too ill to maintain the house.
Earl Hamner Jr has said that the structure used in the popular television series closely resembled the house in Schuyler and the new owner, a nearby resident, said that although the building had become dilapidated, she had no plans to demolish it.
The house was sold at auction for USD122,000 (73,493).News
