Asbestos compensation claims to conclude faster

25th July 2013

Courts Minister Helen Grant stated that the proposal would see that sufferers, or their asbestos compensation solicitors, were able to reach a settlement on uncontested claims faster, through an out-of-court system.

“Mesothelioma is an awful condition which can destroy lives in a frighteningly short amount of time and we want to do everything we can to help sufferers and their families.

“The improved out-of-court process will help to ensure they can access any compensation they are due as quickly as possible.”

In the past, the legal process involved with claiming compensation from employers has meant that many people suffering from this industrial disease did not live to see the remuneration they deserved.

Hopefully, these plans, welcomed by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), will mean that individuals, and their families, will be compensated sooner for their asbestos-related diseases.
