Chichester house sales continue to prove expensive in the region
In Chichester the average stamp duty paid last year was £10,431. In the district of Arun homebuyers and residential conveyancing solicitors saw average stamp duty figures of around £4,700 and in Havant the figure was £3,322.
With regard to Chichester house sales, the entire annual stamp duty revenue was £18,348,451. Of this, 94 percent of the revenue came from tax paid on houses costing more than £250,000.
Houses costing more than a quarter of a million pounds are charged stamp duty of three percent and in Chichester just over half of the 1,759 house sales fell into this bracket.
In lingering hard times for the housing market and for homebuyers alike, residential conveyancing solicitors continue to urge potential buyers to consider carefully the costs involved in buying property and to not get carried away when making decisions involving property which is more expensive than they can realistically afford.News
