Partner, Personal Injury
Tony is head of the personal injury department at George Ide. He qualified in 1980 and has had an impressive career in personal injury litigation, joining the firm in 1983 and becoming a partner in 1985.
Throughout his time at George Ide, Tony has specialised in high-value claims involving brain and spinal injury as well as amputee cases. He has conducted at least half a dozen claims exceeding a million pounds to full trial, and has negotiated settlements in many other claims involving seven-figure sums.
Tony has enjoyed working with top barristers and QCs on his cases, many of which have been celebrated in the local and national press. Perhaps his most widely reported claim was the case of Westmoquette v Dean which Tony took to trial in the High Court, with Bill Braithwaite QC.
In addition to enjoying enviably good relationships with Counsel, Tony is also highly respected by his fellow personal injury solicitors and insurance solicitors, and has been commended for his work in every annual edition of Chambers Legal Directory over the past ten years. He is in Band One for “leading individuals” since the format was first started by Chambers in 2003. A selection of testimonials over the last few years from Chambers include:

In addition to his work at George Ide, Tony was also Chairman of the influential personal injury claimants’ lobby group, the Motor Accident Solicitors’ Society (MASS), between 2006 and 2008, and continues to be actively involved in the society, particularly with the training of young members.
Outside working hours Tony enjoys playing tennis, watching England and Sussex play cricket and is a long-suffering Portsmouth FC supporter.
