Pedestrian struck by lorry on A27 near Chichester
At about 4pm that day, police were dispatched after they were alerted to the fact a man had been seen walking in the road between the Whyke and Stockbridge roundabouts.
Shortly after this call was made, the man was involved in a collision with a lorry and taken to Southampton Hospital via helicopter with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed off for a period of time after the accident, causing congestion during rush-hour.
Police are appealing to any witnesses to come forward with details which could help determine the events leading up to the accident, as well as its cause.
If someone is found liable for the man’s injuries, then he might choose to claim compensation for the road traffic accident.
However, the fact that police had been making their way over to stop the man from walking in the road prior to the incident, suggests the pedestrian might be seen as responsible for any harm he suffered.News
